Bookstock
A music festival, first on in 2023, at High Peak Bookstore & Cafe in April and May featuring folk, rock, rhythm and blues, country, electronica and jazz and championing local and emerging artists. ***Not taking place in 2025***
White Hall Wiggle
A tough but exhilarating multi-terrain fell/track race over 6.5 miles and with 1364 feet of climbing and descent with stunning views of the Peak District. In late April in aid of The Thomas Theyer Foundation.
Buxton Spring Fair
An annual celebration throughout Buxton on May Day featuring food and drink stalls, exhibitions, dance and music, craft stalls, children’s activities, climbing walls, petting zoo, circus skills and much, much, much more. The day where all community groups and businesses come together and put on a show throughout the town. This is the day to be in Buxton! Initially a Buxton Town Team initiative; now organised by JT Events.
Buxton Comic Con
A comic book convention now held in the Octagon Hall in the Pavilion Gardens in the spring (April/May). Organised by The Toy Cupboard.
Buxton Music, Speech & Drama Festival
A Festival celebrating amateur music and drama performing with opportunities for children, young people and adults to perform in both a competitive and non-competitive, supportive environment and benefit from feedback. Events take place in May at Buxton Methodist Church, St John The Baptist Church and the Octagon Hall in the Pavilion Gardens with the winners’ gala in June.

Buxton Wool Gathering
A wool festival dedicated to the best of yarn, knitting & crochet at the Pavilion Gardens in May. Over 50 exhibitors selling: hand dyed yarns & fibres; wheels & spindles; needles & hooks; kits, patterns & books; gifts & accessories; raw fleeces; and much more!
Grand Charity Bazaar
Charity and community groups come together for a day of summery fun at the Pavilion Gardens in late May/early June. Raffles, cake stalls, children’s activities, music performances and handwriting competition are regular features. Free entry. Organised by the Rotary Club of Buxton.
Hillhead Show
A show like no other! A bi-annual expo for the quarrying, minerals, constructions and recycling community held within Hillhead Quarry. Held every two years (evens) in June.
Buxton Health & Healing Festival
Taking place in the Octagon Hall in the Pavilion Gardens in mid-June, the lively and vibrant Health & Healing Festival brings to Buxton psychics, inspirational art & artists, exhibitors, musicians, holistic living advice, organic foods, eco-products and practitioner demonstrations. Buxton Pride Picnic
A picnic in the Pavilion Gardens to celebrate the LGBT+ community in the third week of July.
Buxton Day of Dance
A day of dance with traditional folk dancers and morris men from throughout the UK in the third week of July. Organised by Chapel Morris Men.

A two day music and food festival in mid-August in the Pavilion Gardens. First held in 2021.

High Peak 40
An ultramarathon in the High Peak starting and ending in Buxton in mid-September.
Buxton Georgian Festival
A celebration of Buxton’s rich Georgian heritage, with a host of talks, tours, events, market, exhibitions and Regency Ball. With Buxton Crescent Heritage Trust on 21 – 27 September.
Buxton Mind, Body & Spirit Event
Since 2023, White Light Events has hosted a second health event in mid-October. Taking place in the Octagon Hall in the Pavilion Gardens, it brings to Buxton reflexology, sound healing and reiki therapists, psychics, tarot readers inspirational gifts, workshops and practitioner demonstrations.
Bonfire Night & Fireworks
Annual firework displays and bonfires at The Park (cricket ground), Sunnyfields (Buxton Rugby Club) and Buxton Raceway at the beginning of November.
Grand Bazaar & Christmas Lights Switch On
The annual switching on of Buxton’s winter lights, usually by a star of the upcoming pantomime, towards the end of November in the Pavilion Gardens and the town tree lights by the Cavendish Arcade along with late night shopping at the Grand Bazaar in the Octagon Hall.
Dickensian Market
Indoor market in late November organised by the High Peak Mayoral Committee giving local charities and organisations the opportunity to raise valuable funds.
Jingle Bell Jog
Run, walk, dance, prance, jog or jingle the 5km route around the Pavilion Gardens in early December to raise funds for Blythe House Hospice.
Santa’s Grotto
Santa visits Buxton every weekend in December and receives visitors in Poole’s Cavern. Book early to avoid disappointment!
Pantomimes
You’ll find pantos at the Buxton Opera House in December and a local panto by Buxton Drama League at Burbage Institute in late January/early February. Oh no you won’t! Oh yes you will!
