The Pavilion Gardens

Welcome to 23 acres of restored pleasure gardens

The Pavilion Gardens is a wonderful historic venue situated in the heart of Buxton and represents a significant part of the Victorian splendour of Buxton. The main building is a natural base for tourists coming to the town and The Pavilion Gift Boutique incorporates a unique gift shop and the Gallery in the Gardens, home of the High Peak Artists.

***Buxton’s Tourist Information Centre is moving from the Pavilion Gardens to the Pump Room. Whilst the transition occurs and the Gardens’ complex is closed during January 2018, there will be a self-service information point located at the bottom of the conservatory, adjacent to the Opera House entrance. It will be open daily from 10am to 4pm. A tourism service by email and telephone is also available between 10am and 2pm: tourism@highpeak.gov.uk or 01298 25106.

As well as extensive conference and exhibition facilities, a restaurant, café and Buxton Swimming and Fitness Centre, there are over 23 acres of gardens established in 1871 by Edward Milner, pupil of Sir Joseph Paxton, including lakes, flower beds and shaded walks. And for the young at heart, there is an extensive children’s play-park, adventure playground, outdoor gym equipment and miniature railway.

Pavilion Arts Centre, Buxton’s newest theatre, can be reached through the Pavilion Gardens and is home to Buxton Cinema
