The theatre category, with 56 shows, has also never been bigger. More about the Fringe…

The Fringe’s longevity is the envy of many and we owe that in part to the support and sponsorship of local organisations. We work closely with the University of Derby – our long-standing sponsors – so that we can share and learn together. High Peak Borough Council and its staff at the Pavilion Gardens have also been brilliant in supporting us as has the Trevor Osborne Charitable Trust.

Buxton Festival Fringe was started in 1980 to run concurrently with the Buxton Festival.  This open access arts event, one of the largest Fringe festivals in England, provides a showcase for performers of all kinds in a variety of venues with many using it as a springboard for the Edinburgh Fringe. Dance, drama, music, poetry, comedy, film, exhibitions and magic are just some of the forms that have appeared.  The Fringe has a respected and professional image with full colour printed programme, reviews, awards and dynamic website.
