As well as the retail arcade and regular fairs in the Pavilion Gardens, there are three distinct shopping areas in Buxton, each with their own character. Find something to inspire you the whole year round.
Historic Centre
Find boutique shops throughout the historic centre in Lower Buxton including The Square, Cavendish Circus, under the arches of the Crescent and Buxton’s oldest shopping centre, the Cavendish Arcade, within the historic hot baths. This shopping arcade is filled with a fantastic array of local independent stores including home ware, giftware, several fashion stores and food, all under the largest stained-glass window in Britain. A wander round is a must for both visitors and locals.
Higher Buxton
Many independent and traditional shops line the Market Place and High Street in Higher Buxton, continuing along to Five Ways and London Road. Find one of the county’s best second-hand bookshops, a traditional butchers and local bakery. Definitely worth the trip up the hill!
Spring Gardens
Also in Lower Buxton, you will find our main shopping street, Spring Gardens, with a mix of independent and chain stores, charity shops and cafes.
Alongside Spring Gardens is the Springs Shopping Centre with a variety of stores, ranging from Waitrose to New Look to WH Smith. There’s something for everyone in this popular retail destination.
