Fairs & Markets
Fairs, markets and auctions take place in Buxton on most weekends and during some week days. The Pavilion Gardens hosts more than 100 such events each year including antique fairs, book fairs, toy fairs and classic car auctions.
A traditional market is held in Buxton Market Place in Higher Buxton on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Annual Buxton Antiques Fair
Prestigious, springtime fair in the Octagon.
Buxton Markets
Regular market held on Tuesdays and Saturdays throughout the year from 9am to 4pm.
Antiques Fairs
Antiques & Collectors Fairs – popular two-day weekend fair at the Pavilion Gardens in the Octagon Hall with Halcyon Fairs. 9am-4:30pm (trade 8am).
Annual Buxton Decorative Antiques & Fine Art Fair – three day fair with Cooper Antiques Fairs taking place in the spring in the Octagon Hall at the Pavilion Gardens.
Art Fairs
Artist & Designer Fairs – local artists and creators showcase their talents in these weekend fairs at the Octagon Hall in the Pavilion Gardens. Full of creativity and passion, these are inspiring events featuring artwork, painting and photography, jewellery and accessories, ceramics and textiles, stained glass and garden ornaments.
Craft, Quirky & Vintage Market – Buxton Markets host a special Craft, Quirky & Vintage market alongside their usual stalls on the first Saturday of each month, April to December.
Art in the Octagon – exhibitions and displays in the Octagon Hall, Pavilion Gardens, of art and craft work by members of High Peak Artists plus demonstrations and workshops.
Bazaars
Weekend Bazaars – held by the Pavilion Gardens in the Octagon Hall, these incorporate an impressive and eclectic mix of market stalls which are run by friendly local trades people. Several create or bake items themselves so you’re sure to find something different. With a great atmosphere and a bargain to be found, they are the perfect inspiration.
Dickensian Indoor Christmas Market – an event in late November giving local charities and organisations the perfect opportunity to raise valuable funds. Organised by the High Peak Mayoral Committee.
Book Fairs
Buxton Book Fair – regular fairs at St Anne’s Parish Centre (Hardwick Sq West, SK17 6PX) with Book Folk.
Car Fairs
Classic Car Fairs & Auctions – on Tuesdays and Wednesdays on the Pavilion Gardens promenade and the Octagon Hall hosted by H&H Classics throughout the year.
Food & Drink Fairs
Food & Drink Special Markets – a special food and drink market alongside the usual traders at Buxton Markets on the third Saturday of the month (Mar-Dec) featuring some of the best producers and artisan makers in the local area.
Thursday Markets – taking place on the first (sometime second) Thursday of each month at the Pavilion Gardens, these markets are a great opportunity to support local producers. Alongside the fantastic produce on offer, you will also find stalls offering plants, crafts and home ware items. Many are handmade and unique: unlike anything you will find on the high street!

Vinyl Record Fairs – with AA Record Fairs at the Old Clubhouse (3 Water Street, SK17 6XN).
Toy Fairs
Toy Collectors Fairs – held in the Octagon Hall, Pavilion Gardens, hosted by BP Fairs with 150 stalls selling all kinds of toys, trains and models. 10.30am-3pm (early entry from 8am), Pavilion Gardens.
Buxton Comic Con / Geek Art Fairs / Play Buxton – events at the Octagon Hall in the Pavilion Gardens bringing together trade/maker stalls and artists from the UK Comic Con scene. Characters also make appearances throughout the day.
