Planning Your Visit
Government Restrictions
We are now in Step 4 of the roadmap meaning there are no restrictions. However, cases of Covid-19 remain high, including in the High Peak, so many place still have distancing restrictions in place and require the wearing of face coverings. Read the full roadmap here.
Car Parking
All car parks are open. Ticket meters are undergoing additional cleaning by our local authority.
Trains
Train are still running on an amended timetable. For the latest information and timetable for trains to Buxton, please see the Northern website here.
Tourist Information
The Buxton Visitor Centre in The Pump Room is open. Find useful information for planning a trip to Buxton here.
Public Toilets
Public toilets are open at Buxton Town Hall, Sylvan Car Park and the Pavilion Gardens Car Park. Distancing measures are in place. Please do not enter if the cleaning attendant is inside.

Covid-19 in the Peak District
As a central, accessible, beautiful region in the centre of England, the Peak District is receiving many visitors from across the country. If you do decide to travel here, please take every precaution to keep yourself and others safe:
- Bring soaps and hand-sanitisers to wash your hands regularly
- Bring a face covering or mask
- Bring gloves
And please do not travel if you or anyone in your household is unwell with Covid-19 symptoms.
Environmental Awareness in the Peak District
As you may have seen, the dropping of litter and dumping of rubbish has become an alarming issue in outdoor and green spaces across the country. Please take your rubbish home with you or dispose of it in an appropriate, environmentally-responsible way. Respect – local wildlife, local communities, businesses and government guidelines.
Protect – yourselves and others: the moorlands by leaving barbeques at home; the environment by taking your litter home; everyone by parking responsibly.

PS. The ‘Blue Lagoon’, just outside Buxton, is NOT a beauty spot. It is a flooded quarry containing water with a similar pH to bleach!
