Buxton Spa Prize 2019 Winners Announced at Exhibition Launch
The Buxton Spa Prize 2019 exhibition, featuring work by over 140 artists, was launched at an awards event attended by over 100 guests at the Green Man Gallery on Thursday 27 June. The competition, which was successfully inaugurated in 2014, aims to raise the profile of artists and their work and further enhance Buxton’s national reputation as a centre for arts and culture.
The exhibition is open daily at the Green Man Gallery from 10.30am till 5.30pm and runs from 28 June to 31 July. It also offers a great opportunity to view and buy works of art inspired by Buxton.
Judges (pictured below middle) for the competition included renowned artist, Charles Williamson, first prize sponsor, Trevor Osborne, teen and children’s prize sponsor and proprietor of No.6 The Square Tearooms and Accommodation, Louise Potter, manager of Derbyshire Museums, Ros Westwood, Peak District Artisan and High Peak Artist member, Ingrid Karlsson, 2016 Spa Prize winner, Rob Wilson and 2019 guest judge and new chair of Vision Buxton, Roddie Mclean.
