Themed Trip: Active & Adventure
Are you looking for outdoor adventure? Then look no further. Buxton is a great base from which to explore the Peak District.
Explore our local woodlands on the Ring of Trees walk or head higher up the trees with Go Ape! high-ropes course. Dive underground into Poole’s Cavern or walk up to the top of the Buxton Country Park to Solomon’s Temple. Not sure of your way around our green spaces? Want to learn more about the rocks, waters and landscape of the area? Then ‘uncover Buxton’ with Discover Buxton Tours on their guided Explorer Tour.
Head further afield into the scenic hills and dales of the Peak District for a ramble. See popular walks here. Like speed? Why not cycle? We are near lots of designated routes. You can hire bikes at Blackwell Mill or Mark Anthony Cycle Shop. Really like speed? Go go-karting at Swains or get “Thrills in the Hills” watching the car racing at the Buxton Raceway.
More of a water baby? Head for the Goyt Valley to try sailing at Errwood Reservoir or canoeing at Tittesworth Reservoir. Want to be in the water? Swim at Buxton Swimming Pool or head to the village of Hathersage for an outdoor swimming experience.
Try climbing at The Roaches. Need some instruction? Book an outdoor adventure at White Hall Centre or with adventure company Outdoor Genius. Hear about others’ exploring exploits at the Buxton Adventure Festival’s monthly talks and films.
In the evening, test your taste buds with worldwide cuisines at our town centre restaurants. Catch the latest blockbuster at Buxton Cinema and or start your night out with a live gig at AMP or The Queens Head on the Market Place followed by dancing at The Vault or Level 2 nightclub.
