Gilbert & Sullivan Festival back in Buxton this July

Gilbert & Sullivan is coming to Buxton Opera House 24-29 July for a week just fizzing with wit, hilarity and simply spectacular performances.  Precisely what the doctor ordered for an uplifting, fabulous night’s entertainment.

The National Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company will open its 2019 season on Wednesday 24 July with a brand-new production of all-time favourite The Mikado.   This is followed by a vibrant production of The Gondoliers, a spellbinding The Yeomen of the Guard and a swashbuckling The Pirates of Penzance.  And to round off an exceptional week, Charles Court Opera will perform their acclaimed production of HMS Pinafore and popular local group Trent Opera bring a brand-new production of Princess Ida.

A veritable feast of outstanding Gilbert & Sullivan awaits theatre-goers in midsummer and there is also the opportunity to hear morning lectures and concerts and enjoy a special “after-theatre” Festival Club in the Pavilion Gardens next door. See below for the full programme.
