Since its opening in 1789, the Crescent has been at the heart of Buxton’s history. Explore the fascinating story of this iconic building, from its Georgian and Victorian heyday to its remarkable restoration and reopening in 2020 as a heritage destination for everyone to enjoy.
The experience features nine themed exhibition spaces, each bringing a different aspect of Buxton’s story to life through engaging displays, immersive media and interactive technology.
Take to the skies on our popular virtual reality flight over Georgian Buxton, mingle with Regency high society at a grand ball, and discover how visitors sought cures and wellbeing through the town’s famous waters. Follow a raindrop on its incredible 5,000-year journey through the Peak District limestone before it emerges from the thermal springs beneath the Crescent. You can even sample and bottle Buxton’s mineral-rich water straight from the source to take home.

Open throughout the year, the Buxton Crescent Experience is an all-weather attraction and an ideal starting point for anyone wishing to explore Buxton and its heritage. The experience lasts approximately one hour and is fully accessible.
Tickets can be booked online via the Buxton Crescent Experience website and collected from the Buxton Pump Room 10–15 minutes before your allocated start time.
