‘Face Europe’ art project is coming to Buxton
‘Face Europe’ is a far-reaching art project which aims to capture the many faces of Europe. The topic of the project is Europe in general and the EU in particular. The title “Face Europe” also includes the two different meanings of “face”: the face, to face and varieties thereof.
In this project, the image of people (drawn or painted) is captured to visualize the history of the “European”. The action will also be audio and video documented and the subject will tell their life story whilst being painted. They aim to create 500-1000 human portraits and stories across Europe over 3-5 years.
The group are travelling around Europe with a specially adapted 20 year-old truck and visiting small and large places, museums, public places, (spontaneous or already pre-arranged) and invite people to be portrayed and interviewed and to watch them in action.
For more information about the project and to see their current location, check out www.face-europe.eu
If you would like to be painted (and interviewed) or would like to watch the process in action and meet the artists, come to the Green Man Gallery on 25th-27th August between 10.30am and 4.30pm.
To be painted, please get in touch with Caroline Small at the Green Man Gallery on firstname.lastname@example.org.
