Buxton Spa Prize 2018 Winners Announced


The winners of the Buxton Spa Prize 2018 have been announced at an awards event attended by over 100 guests at the Green Man Gallery on Thursday 28th June.

The Buxton Spa Prize 2018 exhibition, featuring work by over 170 artists and launched at the awards event, is open from 1st to 31st July from 10.30am till 5.30pm and offers the great chance to view and buy works of art inspired by the spa town of Buxton.

The prize was launched in 2014 and aims to raise the profile of artists and their work and further enhance Buxton’s national reputation as a centre for arts and culture.

Visitors to the gallery are invited to choose their favorite artwork by taking part in The Buxton Spa Prize People’s Choice 2018. The winner will be announced on Friday 27th July 2018. The prize is a week’s self-catering in the Cornish village of Portleven favoured by many artists and a cash prize sponsored by Trevor Osborne and Bill and Shelia Barratt.

The 2018 panel of Judges included:

  • Amanda Penman, Editor of ArtsBeat Magazine

The acclaimed Harold Riley Sketchbook Prize 2018 sponsored by the Harold Riley Education Foundation was awarded also awarded on the evening:
