Route
The start for this route is the Car park at Minninglow White Peak, 1:25000 (SK194582).

Turn right at the exit of the car park to the end of the road then left. Follow this road for about 400m and turn right on the old country road. Keep on this track (Cobblersnook Lane) for about 700m. You will approach a left hand bend and two gates. Take the left hand gate which also has a stile on the left of it.

Follow the wall on your left rising uphill through a gate and carrying on along the walled track. Pass through the next gate and the track widens again. At the next gate pass through then turn right on to a country lane Green lane. This lane leads towards the High Peak trail. Once reached cross the trail at an angle carrying on along the rough track.

Follow this track through two crude gates when you will be on a tarmac surface in Pikehall opposite two telephone boxes. Bear left to the A5012 (a busy road). Turn right on the A5012 for 100m taking a track that forks right (carefully crossing the busy A5012). Follow this old roman road through the next gate for around 1.5km through another gate where the track can get muddy. Stay on this road into Longcliffe.

Turn right on to the B5056 towards Ashbourne, under the old railway and continue for 1.4km heading off right on a farm track signposted the Shipley Herd. Go over the cattle grid and after 200m turn on to a tarmac track with grass in the centre. Pass into the farmyard at Ballidmoor and turn immediately right. Go through the gate at the top left (beware it may be slightly overgrown) head uphill swinging right through the gate following the wall then heading uphill towards a gate in the wall. Keep ahead for about 250m passing through a gateway. As the track bears right follow the left wall line until a gate is reached.
Pass through this gate turning left and head down along the old country road to the bottom. Turn right towards Roystone Grange* which is reached after 1.2km.

• Roystone Grange is worth stopping to visit and additional information can be found at Peak District information centres.

This lane continues ahead through a gate into a farmyard keeping to the main track. Carry on uphill until a gateway is reached at a T junction. Turn right on a walled track which gradually becomes muddier making a sharp right turn heading up to the High Peak Trail*. Turn left on to the trail heading back to the car park at Minninglow.

• Should you be feeling fresh the route can easily be extended by following the trail which is well signposted and heading back to Minninglow later.
