Councils get together.
The High Peak Borough Council and Staffordshire Moorlands have formed an alliance which will see them share services across the area. It is reported that the alliance will save £1.25 million a year but as yet no details are available. One cost saving is in the Chief Executive post, with Simon Baker being appointed to run both councils.
With Westminster restricting the amount of money they have given the councils this year, the allience and sharing of services is one innovative way of reducing costs. We wait to see what impact this will have on Buxton's services. (June 2008)
