The Cavendish MacKenzie Trail is a selection of nine North-Midland Mackenzie-designed golf courses within easy reach of Buxton’s Cavendish Golf Club. This is a unique opportunity for golfers to stay in Buxton and play 9 MacKenzie-designed courses within 90 mins drive.
The trail has just been launched and is the first ‘MacKenzie Trail’.
Alister MacKenzie designed the course at the Cavendish Golf Club which opened in 1925. It was commissioned by the then Duke of Devonshire, one of the richest men in Britain, who wanted a world class golf course in his town of Buxton.
The Cavendish opened to great technical acclaim in golfing circles and 7 years later Alister MacKenzie designed the now world famous Augusta National course.
