Mountain biking

Welcome to the Peak District – ‘the outdoor capital of England’. We’ve got literally hundreds of miles of mountain bike trails just waiting to be discovered with Buxton positioned firmly at their hub.

Buxton is the perfect base for mountain biking and cycling in the Peak District, the Hope Valley, Castleton, around the Goyt Valley, the Roman Lakes near Marple, and the trails across Kinder and Glossop or Hayfield.

Much of the family friendly cycling takes place along  trails which follow the tracks of former local railways such as the Tissington Trail and High Peak Trail. Both start only a few miles to the south of Buxton at Parsley Hay (opposite the junction of the Youlgreave road with the A515), and offer excellent traffic-free cross-country routes which pass close to many pretty villages.

Check out some of these biking routes and see for yourself:

Trail 1 – Minninglow Circuit (10.5 miles)
Trail 2 – Buxton to Goyt Valley (22 kilometers)
Trail 3 – Buxton to Goyt Valley, Cat & Fiddle (10.5 miles)
