Heritage Open Days in Buxton 7 to 10 September

Thursday 7 September 10.00 am to Sunday 10th September 4.00pm, 2017

At various locations in Buxton including the Devonshire Dome, Old Hall Hotel, Buxton Opera House and the Pump Room.

Heritage Open Days is the largest heritage festival in England. In 2016, over 5,000 events were enjoyed by an estimated 3 million visitors. All Heritage Open Days events and venues are free to explore.

Heritage Open Days in Buxton will see the Opera House, Queen Mary’s Bower in The Old Hall Hotel, the University’s Buxton Campus at the iconic Devonshire Dome and many more places open to the public for free. The University will be offering a special costumed guided tour led by Vera Brittain.

The University will also be hosting a series of public talks:

TALK 1 – The architecture of Buxton with particular focus on the Devonshire Dome

TALK 2 – Growing up in Chatsworth: the children of the fifth duke and duchess of Devonshire

TALK 3 –  The RAF Bomb Store at Harpur Hill, Buxton
